Here are some quick cleaning tips for taking care of your hearing aids, no matter the style!
- Wipe any wax off the hearing aid with a tissue when you?re finished using it for the day.
- This sounds, and is, very simple to do and can help you insert the hearing aid properly and keep wax from accumulating in your storage case and even in your ear.
- Clean the microphone ports using the brush that was provided to you.
- As little as this may seem to do, it can actually be quite beneficial.
- Microphone ports are different in each model and style of hearing aid but here are some examples of where to brush.
- Clean the dome or ear piece with a tissue or alcohol wipe.
- This will help keep bacteria off of the mold for when you put it back in your ear.
- If you suspect the hearing aid is not working properly, replace the wax guard/filter.
- If you have any questions or are a current patient, stop in and let any of our hearing care staff clean your hearing aids for free. We love maintaining your hearing aids so you can maintain your hearing! We are happy to do this on a regular basis for anyone who needs it!
Changing the wax protection can be tricky but can be the difference between a hearing aid repair or an office visit.
